The 2014-15 school year has come to a close, leaving NHS members to reflect upon their experiences in the club.

Ms. Magdal spent her first year as head of the National Honor Society. In Magdal’s first year she instituted a Facility Council to review student progress in maintaining their memberships or being inducted.

“Based on what returning students have told me, I have brought a new level of organization and encouragement to the organization,” Magdal said.

Another project that began progress this year was the tutoring project. The organization only just began with a Tuesday/Thursday morning schedule. NHS will start of the next coming school year with the program.

“Under the leadership of our new officer position of Historian, I believe I will see it grow,” Magdal said.

In addition to finishing up projects for this year, the current senior officer’s and next year’s officers (currently juniors) will be meeting this Friday to debrief on this year and make plans for next year.

During Magdal’s first year as NHS adviser she was able to connect with students in a way she had never experienced before.

“The year continued to reinforce my belief that we have incredibly upstanding, positive, ethical, hard-working, leader-students here at SLPSH,” Magdal said.

When returning as adviser next year, Magdal says she hopes to continue every positive change that was made this year, into next year.
