New club presidents announced

Sexual Health Education Club plans to attract new members

June 5, 2016

Izzi Gilbert-Burke

Why do you think you were chosen to be next year’s Sexual Health Education Club (SHEC) president?

I think I was chosen because I have been an active member since last year and I am enthusiastic and want people to come and learn about sexual education and the good parts about it.

What are you most excited for?

I’m excited for people to get more involved and bring a new atmosphere and hopefully expand the club and make it more widely known so everyone can have the benefits.

What do you plan to change next year?

We want to have more sessions and make it more widely known so that we get more of a variety of people rather than the same people every week. We like the people every week but it’s nice to  have  new faces and new opinions.

What aspects of this year’s president’s teaching style do you plan to use next year?

Philip and I plan to do games and more videos that trigger an opinion so that it can be a discussion as well as learning.

What are your next steps as president?

I’m planning to get certified and trained by MyHealth at the end of the summer. Philip and I will get together and figure out the next step and have ideas of what to do and some more different and unique things and see what people in the past have done as well.

Why do you think you were chosen to be next year’s SHEC president?

I’ve been in it since the club was created and I have had really good attendance and the  current leaders know that I am passionate about it.

What are you most excited for?

I’m excited to lead the discussions and plan activities to get more people to come.

What do you plan to change next year?

I like the activities and discussions we had but i think that we will expand the topics that we discussion and also try and recruit more people into it.

What aspects of this year’s president’s teaching style do you plan to use next year?

Hannah and Dorothy would use some sort of video ro newsclip to start and lead into a discussion and I think that’s a good idea because it’s a good introduction and icebreaker to get the conversation started. Instead of just asking questions you can refer to the video or what you watched.

What are your next steps as president?

Me and Izzi will probably end up meeting up this summer to plan discussion topics and also I want to try to be in the activity fair the freshman go to at orientation so that they know it’s  a club they can join.
