As senior thespian president Charlie Berg thought about the end of the year theater banquet, he remembered all of the fun memories he had as a member of the theater program during the year.

Berg said he was grateful to be Thespian president, and is excited to pass down the leadership to someone else at the banquet.

“We have an election and it’s by popular vote. If someone wants to be on the ballot they have to give a speech at the banquet to try to sway people because otherwise it’s literally a popularity contest,” Berg said.

Berg said he has the job of figuring out who will be president and vice president for next year.

“We vote there and I will go count the votes while they play a game and then I’ll tally them up and reveal them at the end of the night,” Berg said.

Theater director Jodi Hatzenbeller said the banquet celebrates the accomplishments of the theater department and also gets all of the cast and crew together from multiple shows.

“We celebrate all three shows we have done throughout the year and we have food that the Thespian society provides, its sort of a potluck style,” Hatzenbeller said. “Then we do acknowledgement of seniors, where seniors give out senior wills where they pass something down to underclassmen.”

Hatzenbeller said she is excited to see all of the members that may have only been in one show, so that everyone can be together one last time.

“It’s nice to get everyone together again. For some people it’s been since November since they’ve been with the rest of the theater crew so it’s nice to catch up with everybody and see the seniors one more time before graduation,” Hatzenbeller said.

The banquet will take place June 3 in the Recreation Center ballroom.
