Sophomore Josh Hodge has played guitar for eight years and enjoys being able to play music. Since he has played guitar for most of his life, he has opportunities to express himself in front of an audience.

“Once a month I play guitar at the Children’s Hospital,” Hodge said. “My mom is a pediatrician so when she gives the kids a shot I can distract them by playing guitar.”

Hodge said he started playing when he was seven but at the time had trouble finding which instrument he wanted to play.

“I tried doing wind instruments when I was little but I wasn’t very good so I tried out the guitar and I really liked it.”

Hodge also said his favorite thing about playing guitar is the ability to learn from errors.

“You can be free and you can make mistakes,” Hodge said. “People won’t be able to tell as easily as in an instrument like piano.”
