Student ‘picks-ups’ soccer without foul

Although competition is a big part of  many team sports, some people like sophomore Maybelyn Rodriguez just like to play for the pure enjoyment.

For Rodriguez her hobby is playing soccer.

“Soccer is more for fun,” she said.

Rodriguez started playing soccer about two years ago after admiring her brother’s soccer skills.

“My big brother used to play,” Rodriguez said. ”It seemed really fun, especially the tricks. So he started teaching me them and I started liking it.”

Because soccer is simply her way of having fun, Rodriguez said she plays the sport pick-up style usually at a park with friends or even complete strangers.

“It’s fun because you get to play with other people,” she said. “I usually play with friends at a park and we meet up there and play. Sometimes I play there with strangers.”

Aside from soccer, Rodriguez said she also very much enjoys hanging out with friends and going to the movie theater.
