Freshman Cyrus Abrahamson’s goal is to visit every Major League baseball field in the country by the time he is 18 — and he’s almost halfway there.

Abrahamson said his family has made it to 14 Major League fields out of 30, attending a baseball game at every one.

“My family and I like to go to different Major League baseball fields. The most exciting game we have been to was a Yankees game where they hit three grand slams,” Abrahamson said.

The passion began before Abrahamson was born, according to his mom, Miriam Gustafson.

“It was just something that happened. My husband I liked going to baseball games, and our kids play baseball, so it fell into place that way,” Gustafson said.

According to Abrahamson, the tradition was unplanned. He said it stemmed from routine visits to fields.

“This tradition didn’t really have a beginning. After my family and I went to a few fields, it became sort of a hobby and something fun we could do together,” Abrahamson said.

Gustafson said her favorite memory was also when the family went to the Yankee stadium and watched them make history.

“My favorite game was at Yankee stadium. It was a long drawn-out morning, but by the afternoon it turned out to be beautiful,” Gustafson said. “The Yankees hit three grand slams that afternoon. It was a record-setting game and it was really cool to be there.”

Abrahamson said he has a passion for watching and playing baseball, which is why he enjoys visiting various fields and keeping the tradition going.

“Baseball is my favorite sport. I enjoy watching all the games and every game we go to we try and get either a baseball hat or t-shirt,” Abrahamson said.

According to Gustafson, she enjoys the different traditions at each field.

“The Red Sox, always, at one point during the game, sing Sweet Caroline. It’s cool to learn all the different traditions at the different fields,” Gustafson said.

Although he has visited many ballparks and seen many teams, Abrahamson said he favors the Minnesota Twins.

“The Twins are my favorite team and I like the Target Field because it is our home field,” Abrahamson said.

Abrahamson said he enjoys seeing his favorite teams and players at each field.

“Getting to see my favorite players play is probably the coolest part of going to games,” Abrahamson said. “Michael Cuddyer is one of my favorites.”
