On Dec. 6, Minnesota Hockey Hub announced Park senior captain Bauer Neudecker as a nominee for player of the week for the first week of the season.

After tallying eight goals and four assists in his first three games of the season, Neudecker said he feels he started the season playing the way he wanted to.

“I think that I have been playing well so far,” Neudecker said. “I hope that I can keep it going throughout the season.”

Head coach Colin Hohman said he believes the team worked as a group to get Neudecker into scoring position.

“Hockey is a team sport, so he was fortunate that he happened to be on the finishing part of those plays, but without the other guys on the team you know none of that happens,” Hohman said. “Again, any individual recognition always starts with the group itself doing well.”

Even after his explosive start to the season, Neudecker said he didn’t expect to be nominated for player of the week.

“I was happy and surprised when I found out about the nomination”, Neudecker said. “I didn’t think that I would be up for it, but I was very excited to find out.”

Hohman said despite their powerful offensive start, the team must focus on the details to continue their positive form.

“Have consistency in, again, focusing on the little things. The more consistent they can become in maintaining that focus, ultimately that will lead to hopefully good results,” Hohman said.

Neudecker placed fourth in voting out of the ten candidates for player of the week. His team’s next game is at 7 p.m. Dec. 20 at home against Wayzata.
