Sport Hockey

What position do you play?

I play left wing.

When did you start playing hockey?

I started playing when I was in kindergarten.

What inspired you to play hockey?

Starting when I was really little, I thought it looked really fun and then my parents encouraged me to play. I’ve had a love for the sport ever since I started playing.

What is your favorite part about playing hockey?

I like the rush that I get when I skate down the ice with a puck. I am very competitive so I really like when I get the chance to skate really fast.

How has hockey impacted your life?

Hockey has taught me about time management and teamwork. It takes up a lot of time and requires a lot of commitment so being in hockey has forced me to balance school, my social life and the demands of being on a team.

What advice would you give to other hockey players?

Make sure you push through the hard stuff. It is really rewarding to be on Varsity and win games but a lot of the time it takes a lot of hard work to get there. It won’t always be easy but for me, it’s always worth it in the end.

What are some of your goals for hockey?

I would really like our team to win Lake Conference games and one of my biggest goals is to go to the state tournament with my team.

How has playing with Hopkins changed your hockey experience?

It is fun to play with Division I commits who make you look good, but it is hard to just wear Hopkins jerseys and be called Hopkins Hockey. It would be really nice to have SLP representation on our jerseys.

How do you feel about being one of the few Park players on the hockey team?

It’s nice getting to know new people and learning from people that I haven’t played with my whole life, but we don’t have home games at the Rec (Center) and it’d be nice to be able to wear orange and black again.
