The Cross country team competed in a meet Sept. 6th at Battle Creek. The girls team did well, placing third overall, out of 15 competing teams. The boys team came in 9th place overall.

One of the girls youngest competitors, freshman Megan Perkins placed first for the girls ninth grade race.

Sophomore Marcie James placed third for the girls 10th grade race, and girls captain Grace Williams placed fourth overall in the 11th grade race.

“Battle Creek was only 1.5 miles, so this was one of our shorter races,” Williams said.

“I believe our girls team can definitely place highly in the conference race at Rum River,” James said, who has been on girls varsity since junior high.

On the boys team, Quinn Whitlow placed sixth for the junior high race. Freshman Tommy Guddal placed 10th in the 9th grade race and boys captain Liam Schmelzle placed eighth overall in the 12th grade race.

“The main highlights so far this season is probably how well the team is bonding, considering there are a lot of new people,” sophomore Jack Elias said.
