After compiling a record of 7-4-1, the girls’ soccer team wrapped up its regular season with a 6-0 win against Richfield on Sept. 30.

Head coach Benjy Kent said he thinks the team had a very successful season.

“We have a great group of soccer players,” he said. “They have made much progress in the way of controlling the ball and keeping pressure on our opponents.”

Kent also said he thinks Park faces tough competition in section play this year, but  the team has potential to do well.

“We play in a tough section. I expect that we will need to be well organized and focused defensively,” he said. “The teams we face are not unbeatable, but just have a little more fire power.”

Senior captain Anna Huber said she thinks the season overall went well.

“Overall, it was a solid year. We won some games and lost some games,” Huber said. “All of us really developed and improved. We have a good team dynamic and are able to have everyone on the team influence the game.”

Kent said he hopes to end the season on a high note during sections.

“I hope the team will rise to the occasion and follow the great leadership of our seniors and captains into section play,” he said. “If they do, we could be a very dangerous team.”

Park will conclude its regular season play at 5 p.m. on Oct. 2 at home against Chanhassen. Section play will begin Oct. 9.
