With the 2014 conference season over for girls volleyball, the team focuses on their goals and plans for varsity sections.

After a tough season with six wins and 20 losses the girls plan to finish up the season with a strong sections.  Freshman, Ella Trotter, said she is looking forward to the upcoming sections game on Tuesday, October 21st.

“Sections will be tough but all we can do is our best and enjoy playing together for what might be the last time,” Trotter said.

The team’s training is changing in preparation for their sections game.

“We have been working on personal skills more as sections come closer,” Trotter said.

Trotter acknowledged the challenges the team has faced this year and how the team has been able to overcome them.

“The rough patches and people quitting made those of us still here closer, now we don’t really react when things go unplanned we all just go with it,” Trotter said.

Junior Mackenzie Evenson also commented on how the team has come together this season.

“On Sundays usually the varsity, and some of the jv team, when we can, all meet up and talk about how things are going. This helps us play as a team instead of individuals,” Evenson said.

Evenson said she has faith in the team’s ability to beat Southwest in their sections game.

“The team is prepared for the sections game against Southwest.  However if we start to lose confidence going in the game we’ll all start to break down and start playing as individuals instead of a team,” Evenson said.

The girls face off in their first sections game against Southwest at 7 p.m. in Southwest High School on Tuesday, October 21.
