Medical Educational Development (MED) Club concludes the 2016-2017 school year, Thursday morning, by hosting Immunologist Dr. Jason Raasch. Raasch will speak to students interested in the medical profession.

According to junior and MED Club president, Hannah Wolk, club adviser Casie Budolfson chose Raasch to speak to the club as his profession coincides with the current IB Biology curriculum taken by juniors.

“Ms. Budolfson choose Dr. Raasch to speak at tomorrow’s meeting because in IB Biology we are learning about the immune system, so an immunologist works really well with this unit,” Wolk said. “A lot of students were asking for extra credit too so this was a great way for Biology students to get extra credit while learning more about immunology.”

With the school year drawing to a close, Wolk reflected on this year of MED Club. According to her, the year was a success for the club.

“This year of MED Club went really well. We had a variety of different speakers come in and we have speakers in mind for next year as well as a field trip planned,” Wolk said.

According to Budolfson, despite wanting to bring in more guest speakers the year went well.

“(MED Club was) good. I think we have had a good mix of speakers,” Budolfson said. “ We would have liked to have more (speakers) and we didn’t get the field trip planned.”

Raasch will speak starting at 7:40 a.m. May 25 in room #A310. Both MED Club members and IB Biology students are invited to attend.
