In Lil Wayne’s newest album “Tha Carter V”, Wayne once again hits the world with amazing beats and lyrics offering memorable features that include, but are not limited to, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and XXXTentacion.

Releasing “Tha Carter V” went through numerous potholes on the path of its release. Despite struggling with numerous legal problems, the album was finally released after nearly half a decade.

One of the more memorable tracks of the album was “Mona Lisa”. With the addition of featuring Kendrick Lamar, “Mona Lisa” brings a new flame to the track with its catchy wordplay. The song is not only a good listen, but also adds in its own flair with its play on words, which pulls listeners in.

Open Letter” tugs heartstrings for many listeners as Wayne sings one extended verse, in which he is at his most vulnerable state. He speaks in a way that shows that he tried his best and in the end, he is just giving up.

Let It Fly” is a great track, in which feature Travis Scott is in the spotlight until around the two-minute mark. Wayne makes no appearance during Scott’s verses, but drops in and hits hard with incredible breathless verses, which are reminiscent from his former glory.

Lil Wayne stated in November of 2013 that “Tha Carter V” will be his last album. He also brought up that he has four children, and he “would feel selfish still going to the studio when it’s such a vital point in their lives.”

Although most of the album was memorable, there were some lowlights. The song Dark Side of the Moon was not as distinguishable as the rest of the songs. With the feature of Nicki Minaj into the song, it just seems like this is one of the more forgettable songs within a good album. I feel that Nicki Minaj did not impact the album in a positive way.

For now, “Tha Carter V” may be Wayne’s final tour, in which he puts in his all for the 23 tracks. Wayne may come back with features and singles, this could be the last Lil Wayne album for the foreseeable future.
