“Before it was a hassle on their phones and on their computers to find information about the sports and extracurriculars they compete in, and we wanted to change that,” Ewald said.

The change came when the department refurbished its website’s design and layout, a move Ewald said was to make accessing the department’s information more accessible and convenient for the student body.

“Our hope is that the website’s new, clean, layout and compatibility with smartphones makes the site much easier to use wherever people are,” Ewald said.

Along with the website, the department also started to find its voice on popular social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. Based on the number of followers and likes the department has so far, Ewald said he feels optimistic about the progress these new outlets are making.

“For everyone it’s a quick and easier way for people to figure out information, and it just increases the accessibility to information and updates for those who don’t use the website,” Ewald said. “I’m happy so far with the number of people have liked or followed us, but I know there are more people out there and I’m hoping more people connect with us.”

So far, the Athletic Department has 82 followers on Twitter and 150 likes on Facebook.

Senior Elijah Tenta said he receives information and news from the department’s Facebook page, which he said can be helpful at times.

“I follow the athletic department on Facebook, and it has been really helpful in knowing the status of our games and how to sign up for activities,” Tenta said. “But when I need more details on game schedule I check the website.”

According to Ewald all scores, updates and information for events and activities are posted daily on the department’s website (gopark.org), twitter (@SLPHSGOPARK) and on their facebook page (St. Louis Park Orioles).
