Sophomore Maddie Kapel, senior Connor Williams, freshmen Emma Yarger and Evelyn Nelson run through their lines at rehearsal Sept. 21.
This fall, students can view six kids who discover themselves through spelling while competing to win a spelling championship in this year’s musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” according to director Jodi Hatzenbeller.
Hatzenbeller said she picked this musical due to its modernity and size.

Thespian president Charlie Berg said he looks forward to the musical because of the new freshmen that are auditioning and leadership roles for returning members.
“I am excited to see new faces and new talent,” Berg said. “There is definitely going to be a lot of demand for people stepping up to the plate and I’m excited to just have a new crowd.”
Berg said students will enjoy the musical because it relates to teens and is also comical.
“It’s a funny, modern story about growing up which we can all relate to and it will be fun because it has good music and humor and there’s a cameo from Jesus,” Berg said.
Performances will take place Nov. 13-15 and 20-22 in the auditorium.
