President Donald Trump is expected to declare a national emergency March 13 to provide faster and more direct relief surrounding COVID-19, according to NBC Universal.
“I will be having a news conference today at 3:00 P.M., The White House. Topic: CoronaVirus!” Trump said in a tweet.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, as of noon March 12 there were 1,215 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the United States. Declaring a national emergency could help free up funding to help fight the pandemic.
Additionally, in a tweet March 13 the Minnesota Senate DFL said Governor Tim Walz and Department of Health Commissioner Jan Malcom will announce a COVID-19 mitigation plan for Minnesotans.
