Two previous posts have been removed from the Echo website

Why did the post remain after some requested it be removed?

The opinion articles removed were posted in 2016. Opinion stories are just that — opinions of the writer and not the staff as a whole. One of the articles was written as a response to an earlier opinion you can see here. Echo had left the writer’s posts on the website because they were protected under the First Amendment. We do not censor opinions.

Why was the content removed?

We took down these posts per request from the writer after expressing that she no longer has these opinions.

What is Echo’s guideline for taking down posts and why does this align with this guideline?

Echo will only remove content if it is factually inaccurate or legally deficient, as stated in our Media Publication Policies. Since she no longer stands behind what she wrote, these articles are no longer factually correct.
