After soccer, theater and honors classes, freshman Emma Yarger loves to relax by traveling around the world.

In the summer, Yarger said she spends her time traveling with her family.

“I’ve been to Costa Rica,” Yarger said. “One of my favorite trips (was when) I went to New York. I have also been to Europe: Paris, France; London, and all over Italy. We did a tour of a bunch of different cities.”

According to Yarger, Venice had the best food, but New York was her favorite experience.

“I’ve been to really cool places out of the country, but honestly I think New York (is my favorite). I really want to go there for school later, and I really love the East Coast,” Yarger said.

Marcy Yarger, Emma Yarger’s mother, said she loves that Emma was able to see many different things within New York City.

“To be involved more intimately in a large city, (and) to know how to navigate it and to be able to attend some of these plays, was a miracle for her.  (Emma) aspires to be there someday and would love to perform there,” Marcy Yarger said.

Emma Yarger said she loves New York City, and would like to attend New York University (NYU).

“My sister knows people who go (to NYU),” Emma Yarger said. “It just sounds like a really good school, and I want to live in New York.”

Emma Yarger’s sister is a sophomore in college at Concordia College in Moorhead. Emma Yarger said her sister is her best friend and they love to travel together. Together, she said they have traveled around the world and learned about other cultures.

Marcy Yarger, said that she thinks it is extremely important for her daughters to travel because it changes their outlook.

“You know they’re sisters they don’t get along all the time but I think they are each other’s best friends. They have done all of these travels together which is something I think is pretty intertwined. Just experiencing the world and different places together,” Marcy Yarger said.
