The girls’ swim team finished their regular season with a 56–41 win against Irondale Oct. 16.
According to senior captain Gillian McCuistion it was a great meet to end the season with and it was a confidence boost for the girls going into sections.
“There was a common feeling of being tired and our bodies just worn out,” McCuistion said. “But knowing it was our last chance to get faster speed times before sections was a big motivator.”
Freshman Aerianna Thomas Park said it was a great opportunity for the girls to drop their time.
“We have been really great this season and the win tonight just put us at a better chance at sections,” Thomas said.
The section meet has not been scheduled yet, however Park will face a tough section of eight teams according to Senior Alex Pasquale.
“To prepare we go through peak week which is when our yardage increases immensely, then taper which is when it decreases gradually,” Pasquale said.
McCuistion said the team will work harder than ever to prepare for the sections, and place within the top three. However the Park is expected to send multiple swimmers on to state. Section begins Nov. 7.
