1) Why did you choose to coach volleyball at St. Louis Park?

The conversation I had with your activities director made it a great fit. I believed in the vision that he had and I felt that he had an appreciation for the strengths that I can bring to the program and at the end of the day I felt that the girls that you have here deserve to have a great experience, and I want them to love this sport as much as I do and to develop into great young women that are going to do great things with their lives.

2) What are your plans on helping to improve the team?

The biggest thing for these kids is to develop self confidence, and play without hesitation.

3) Have you coached volleyball before this year? If so, how do you plan to use that experience with your new team?

I’ve coached for fourteen years. I’ve worked with a lot of different kids, so I feel like I have a good understanding of how to meet kids with where they are and to teach them from a progression to help them get better.

4) What are your expectations for this season?

To develop good relationships between the kids and our coaching staff so that everyone feels comfortable and encouraged and knows what their goals are and I want every kid to be able to contribute in some way and to feel that they have something to give to the program.

5) What will you do to make this a memorable season?

Lots of team building and  leadership. We are going to have fun in the gym together, and we are going to get better at volleyball skills and win some matches.

6) How big of a transition will it be moving to a team and starting right away as a head coach?

I love being a head coach, I love planning practices. It’s not a hard transition for me at all.  To come into this role, I’m really comfortable with it and its fun.

7) How will the students progress as players throughout the season?

They have done a great job learning the systems approach to our offense and defense and so they have done a great job learning that there is a way we do things here at Park volleyball, and I think that this will be really important for them and from there we start developing individuals who play at their highest level.
