Sophomore Jade LaBelle said she feels proud of her accomplishments this lacrosse season, but feels there is still room for improvement before the team competes at Sections June 2.

Although the team progressed in its skill this past season, LaBelle said the team needs to get into a better attitude while playing.

“(The team has) been doing really well this year, other than a few games where we weren’t in the mindset,” LaBelle said.

Head coach Kyle Sweeney said the team’s greatest weakness continues to be its mental toughness during games.

“(Our) greatest weakness is probably our mental game. When we are up against a challenge, to keep really tough play even when the other team is scoring a lot; to really up our play (and) match the other team,” Sweeney said.

LaBelle said the team shows its progress through its performance, rather than the score of the game.

“I would say that for 80 percent of our games we played really well. Even though we lost those games, we still improved a lot,” LaBelle said.

Sweeney said the team excels at communication and connection when playing on the field.

“Over the season they have gotten to know each other’s play. I think that it is really fluid up and down the field, and they really connect with each other,” Sweeney said.

Sweeney said she looks forward to seeing the team compete at Sections against previous opponents. She said since the team has drastically improved throughout the season, she expects it to put in its full effort during Sections.

“I just expect them to really play their best, to get themselves focused, to get each other focused,” Sweeney said. “I expect them to really believe that they can play like they have never played before.”

Sections will take place at 5 p.m. June 2 at Breck High School against Breck.
