Parks & Recreation Commision

St. Louis Park City Council created the Parks & Recreation Commision to work on issues regarding the parks and fields of St. Louis Park, according to junior Edward Halvorson, who acts as the youth adviser on the commission.

Halvorson said he began serving as the youth adviser for the commission a year-and-a-half ago. As youth adviser, Halvorson said he assists in any way possible.

“I attend the meetings and voice my opinion on the matters we are attesting to,” Halvorson said. “I’m looking forward to working with them about anything they ask me to.”

Halvorson said the commission’s current primary focus revolves around the planning of a new ice arena near the St. Louis Park Rec Center.

“Right now the big (project) is the ice arena,” Halvorson said. “I think helping get the ice arena passed has been my proudest accomplishment on the commission.”

The next Parks & Recreation meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. March 16 at the Rec Center programming office.
