Public Relations Officer Genesis Buckhalton

Junior Student Council public relations officer Genesis Buckhalton enjoys talking to fellow students as part of her officer duties.

“I am a people person. I like to talk to people and for the new incoming Student Council members it’s really important to get to know them and show them the ropes and stuff and show kids what’s going on in Student Council,” Buckhalton said.

According to Buckhalton, her wishes to maintain open discussion with students.

“A goal for myself is to keep in contact with the students. Right now the communication is still stuck,” Buckhalton said. “I feel like kids know what Student Council is but they don’t know what they do so it’s good for next year to keep the connection more open and tell them, ‘hey this is what’s going on, this is what’s happening’ so they know what’s going on around the school.”

Lindenberg said Buckhalton’s strengths in communication will help her in speaking with the student body.

“People will really take her word with a level of certainty and she’s just got a trusting relationship with students and connected and excited about the different activities,” Lindenberg said.

Buckhalton will replace current public relations officer senior Jonathan Ayele. Buckhalton said she hopes to fulfill her role to the best of her abilities.

“I feel like I have to fill big shoes, not to be better than him, but to just be a better me as the public relations officer,” Buckhalton said.
