“One Night in Miami” is an amazing representation of the civil rights movement and tells an impactful story. It shows the fight Black people have been having for years, and has great black representation, along with a great cast.

This movie takes place in the year 1960. It follows four black men, Malcom X  (Kingsley Ben-Amir), Jim Brown (Aldis Hodge), Sam Cooke (Leslie Odom Jr) and Cassius Clay (Eli Goree), also known as Muhammad Ali. The movie starts out with Clay training to win the world heavyweight championship. After he won, Malcom X invited him and the rest of the men to his hotel room for a meeting, which led to them having a deep conversation.

After watching the trailer to “One Night in Miami,” I had big hopes for it, and fortunately, it did not disappoint. Each actor was perfect for their role, and that helped make the movie enjoyable to watch and made me feel a deeper connection with the characters. I really thought that Kingsley Ben-Amir, who played Malcom X stood out amongst the men. He really made me feel like it was actually Malcom X.

I was really thrilled to hear that Regina King directed it. I’ve been watching her since I was a little kid, so seeing that she was directing movies I was excited to see what she was going to do. She did a brilliant job, the whole movie flowed beautifully, and the movie seemed very original.

The movie was released at the perfect time. After everything that happened with the Black Lives Matter movement this summer, the movie helps us understand that if we want equality for Black people, we’re going to have to fight for it instead of treating it like a trend, and it shows that we need to start the conversation if no one else will.

I really admired this movie. It touched on race which is a really touchy subject and it worked out really well. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to learn a little bit of the Black community’s history, or anyone who wants to watch a good movie with an amazing cast and director.
