On Tuesday, Oct. 12, Lizzo wowed her fans with a fantastic concert. She performed a variety of songs, including some of her most famous songs such as “Good As Hell,” and “Truth Hurts.” Her opening artists, Sophia Eris and Latto, warmed up the crowd with their talents and built up the suspense for Lizzo to perform. The concert was quite lengthy and left her fans amazed with her work.

The concert started out with Sophia Eris giving a short performance. Eris is Lizzo’s close personal friend and also her DJ. She gave the crowd some sneak peaks of her rap songs and beats. Eris hyped up the crowd and prepared the adoring fans for Latto. Latto showed off her dance moves and rapped to her most famous songs. Towards the end of her set, her backup dancers gave an ode to women’s rights. They marched around the stage with signs that said “Protect women’s rights” and “My body, my choice.” Lattos’ increased awareness towards this prevalent social issue sparked much support from the whole crowd.

When Lizzo emerged from a trap door on the floor, the crowd went wild. Everyone and their mother was going crazy for her. She was rocking a sparkly, bright pink bodysuit and beautiful makeup. She began immediately with a solo performance and soon after, her backup dancers came out and started performing with her as well. The stage was brimming with beautiful women, from her dancers to her DJ and even her entire band. The whole concert was very centered around body positivity and women’s rights. Lizzo had the crowd repeating affirmations such as “I am special” and “I can do anything” throughout the concert.

Her famous flute, Sasha, made quite a few appearances as well. It rose from the floor displayed beautifully on a sparkly podium. Lizzo had previously received some backlash for playing that specific flute because of its vast historical background. It had belonged to President James Madison and had never been played before it was gifted to Lizzo. Because of this backlash, she made it a point to play the flute many times during the concert. Once she was finished with it, one of her backup dancers carefully took it offstage.

When performing the song “Naked,” she wore a nude colored bodysuit with the words “My body my choice” displayed on her from a projector. Lizzo has been very public with her strong feminism and support for womens rights.

Towards the end of the show, Lizzo stopped the show to express her gratitude for her fans and shared the importance that Minneapolis held in her heart. Minneapolis was the very city where she got her start and began to skyrocket to fame. She graciously thanked all of her supporters and even shed a few tears as she was overcome with emotion. She seemed truly grateful for everyone that helped her get to where she is now.

This concert was a fantastic experience. Lizzo was overflowing with positivity as her energy shined. I would highly recommend a Lizzo concert to any of her fans and even to someone who doesn’t necessarily love her music, just to have a good time. I left feeling fulfilled and cheerful, ready to be a strong, independent woman.
