Netflix added a new Korean movie, “Unlocked,” to their platform on Feb. 17. If you like action, murder mysteries or suspenseful movies, you’ve come to the right place. “Unlocked” will make you never want to lose your phone anywhere, because as soon as you watch the movie you’ll be hooked on the need to keep your phone close.

“Unlocked” is a movie that caught me off guard and definitely took me away from after the plot twist. Its entire plot deserves a second movie because they end in a huge cliffhanger. You can see in the movie what’s the main idea for Na-mi and the entire purpose of the plot. The emotions of the trailer gets placed at certain parts of the movie to build up a specific amount of suspense. The trailer was so well done because they didn’t spoil much and added what needed to hook a watcher’s eyes. “Unlocked” has a mix of both mystery and a little bit of horror, considering how there’s a serial killer involved.

Lee Na-mi (Chun Woo-Hee), the protagonist, is a normal woman who works at a food company. She runs an Instagram account showing the benefits of eating at her company’s restaurant. One day, her account gets hacked, exposing her identity and getting her fired. The amount of distress seen in her face shows that she’s not the type of person who’d do this. None of her coworkers even gave her a chance to explain herself. It was so surprising. The movie follows Lee as she tries to gain back the trust of those who didn’t believe her.

Chun Woo-hee played her character so well it was unreal. Character  Oh Joon-Yeong (Im Si-Wan) portrayed his character well too. He was playing a soft, quiet character who always kept to himself. Later in the movie his character evolves drastically. Im Si-wan played a complicated character so professionally it was jaw dropping, he showed all of Oh Joon-Yeong’s emotions so well and did an amazing job at composing his own emotions for his character to seem real. All of the other actors also did so well.

As for the music, it started off with an upbeat vibe but as soon as the movie played out to its plot, the music quickly went to a dark suspense vibe. This soundtrack truly had me surprised. Some movies like this show a character sneaking around and decided to add a loud beat to scare viewers. The music gets added in parts to match with the emotions being shown through the character’s faces.

A lot of people won’t watch this movie because it’s not an American movie, but as soon as I saw the trailer pop up on Netflix, it showed me that you could be targeted as a victim if you lose your phone on public transportation. Everyone should watch this movie to get a new perspective of different countries’ media, and to educate themselves on the dangers of technology as a whole. Although some might believe that this movie isn’t realistic, this could happen in the real world.

Overall, this movie had my eyes in shock and will have me paranoid over losing my phone even in my house. I recommend “Unlocked” because it’s so well put together and the way it quickly went from zero to 10 had me appalled.
