‘Golden Child, Chapter 3’ lyricism and creativity

Album of the year

Autumn is a 24 year old rapper and producer who was born in Lafayette, Louisiana. What got him really well known was his song called, “One way” that he dropped back in 2020. He’s loved by many because of his versatility, vulnerability in lyrics and his beats. He recently dropped an album called, “Golden Child, Chapter 3,” which was released March 31. I was really excited when this album dropped because Autumn is one of my favorite artists and I just love listening to his music. He has the type of music that you can just vibe to and he has a lot of different styles so you can’t even get bored.

“Golden Child, Chapter 3” is the third and last part of his Golden Child series. He started this series back in 2021, when he dropped “Golden Child, Chapter 1” and he just went on from there. “Golden Child, Chapter 3” has 24 tracks in it. Some of the songs are newer and some of them are from past years — he wanted to show his different styles and growth by doing this. The album opens up with the song, “God’s Child!” and in the beginning you hear a class and a teacher say, “ok class, open up to chapter three.” It was definitely very clever to start the song with that considering the name of the album, it just draws you in more and makes you more intrigued.

Out of all 24 tracks my favorite song is “Still The Same! 2.” I knew from the beginning that this song was going to be my favorite when I heard the snippet plus its part two, to “still the same and i also love that song. Autumn’s lyricism is what always draws me in and in “Still The Same! 2“ I  related to the lyrics, that’s why I really enjoyed it. The song mainly talks about a past relationship that ended but the singer still misses the person and thinks about them from time to time. I just enjoyed how I could relate to that and the beat of the song was really nice too.

What I really like about the album is how some of the songs sync into each other. Some of the beats were the same so it made the transitions from most of the songs sound cool. For example the song, “Recollections Of Fame” and “I Am The Goat!” had such a smooth transition. From the end of “Recollections of Fame” and to the opening of “I Am The Goat!,” The beats were very similar so when the song was transitioning it sounded very smooth. You would’ve thought you were listening to the same song if you weren’t paying attention.

For me, this has to be album of the year. He just keeps getting better and this is one of his best projects so far. The flow in the entire album is smooth, along with the beats and it’s very catchy. Every song has subtle details, little niche references from his past songs and it has very creative panning. I honestly can’t wait to see what he has in plan for the future but I am excited to be a part of the journey.
