American singer, songwriter and actress Olivia Rodrigo released her second album “GUTS” Sept. 8. This album is a mix of lovable hit songs that will give you that riot girl vibe you didn’t know you needed.

The album contains 12 songs that keep getting better the more you listen. Rodrigo concocted her style of pop with an edgy twist that was pretty unexpected. A lot of songs contain a rock and roll theme that’s heavy on drums, like “Pretty Isn’t Pretty” and “Love Is Embarrassing,” while others created more of a pop vibe like “The Grudge.” Additionally, the album featured softer songs like “Lacy.” All in all, this album gives you a little bit of everything from Rodrigo. Those are all great songs but there are a few that stand out on “GUTS.”

“Vampire” is not only my favorite song from the album but it is statistically the biggest hit from the album. The beat is fast-paced and the background music is indescribably astounding. This song lets her vocals flow and has a great pop vibe to it.

“Logical” is a triumphant and beautiful song. The song gets stuck in your head so easily. The odd symbolism in the song makes you adore it. This song really displays Olivia’s voice more than ever before by the way she shifts her voice to multiple tones throughout the song.

“Bad Idea Right?” is the second song in the album and a fun one at that. This song is a fun, fast-paced adventure. It tells a story about hooking up with her ex-boyfriend in an entertaining way. The song shows the true element to Olivia Rodrigo’s music and is a great song to bob your head to. This just seems like a song everyone around you will enjoy.

Not only was her album great, the sales for her album are even greater. So far, “GUTS” has almost 2 million streams on Spotify alone. The album is also estimated to have made 295,000 dollars in its first week of release. It has been a sensation around the internet and music lovers have been eating it up.

Olivia Rodrigo’s long awaited album “GUTS” is a phenomenon among the internet. I came in with low expectations, not knowing much of Olivia Rodrigo, and was genuinely surprised how great this album turned out. It just felt like every song hit right and it was very pleasant to the ears. Although the songs in the album didn’t always follow the same vibe, they were too good to not give this album a high rating. Overall, everything about this album is great — I feel it in my guts.

“GUTS:” ★★★★★
