Black Friday Favorites 2023

The best deals this holiday season

Abby Bartleson

With the holiday season quickly approaching, Black Friday has historically been the day of deals for many to shop for loved ones and themselves. The marketing and deals while shopping can quickly become overwhelming, so I’ve curated a list of the best savings this season to help with anyone’s Black Friday excursion.

Technology:

Deals on TVs, washing machines and microwaves are all common for the early morning event, but students can benefit from technology deals too. Many teenagers don’t require the household appliances that flood advertisements, so I’ve found the best three deals for Park students.

  1. Apple Airpods Second Generation – $69.00 at Walmart (formerly $129.00)

Airpods are a staple in Park. They’re headphones for on-the-go and have great sound quality. This $60.00 off deal is perfect for buying a new pair of headphones for yourself, or as a helpful and essential gift for someone else.

      2. Bose Noise Canceling Headphones – $339.00 on Amazon (formerly $379.00)

If you’re looking for headphones that have better sound quality, Bose is one of the better pairs on the market. The deal of $40.00 off isn’t as great as the Airpods, but still takes a chunk off of the price tag for these headphones. If you have a music-head person in your life, this deal is perfect for them.

      3. JBL CHARGE5 Portable Waterproof Speaker with Powerbank – $119.99 at Best Buy (formerly $179.99)

Speakers are another music essential for any teenager. JBL speakers are some of the best on the market. The portability and it being waterproof is incredible for its price. Being marked down $60.00, you can’t miss out on this deal for a speaker that will last a lifetime.

Clothes:

Fashion and outfits are an important aspect in Park, so clothing deals are a must this Black Friday. A loved one would definitely appreciate a new outfit, and they would never know you got it on saleit’s a win-win.

  1. Pacsun – Buy one get one 50% off

First place for clothing deals goes to Pacsun. Their regular priced clothing and jeans can get a bit expensive, but this deal adds up to savings. Pacsun’s high quality jeans or cool graphic t-shirts would make a perfect gift this holiday season. Plus, you can justify getting something for yourself through this deal, as you need two items to participate, making it fun all around.

      2. Evry Jewels – 80% off everything

This deal is perfect for anyone who loves to accessorize in your life. 80% off the entire line of necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, charms, phone cases, etc. is an insane deal you cannot pass up. Plus, this jewelry will not tarnish or fade, so you know you are giving a long lasting present that costs you very little.

      3. Crocs – Up to 60% off select items

Crocs come in last, but certainly not least, for clothing sales. They are not everybody’s style, but if you have a croc-head in your life, they will love any shoe you buy from this sale. Crocs are also perfect for younger people in your life, as a cute pair of shoes they can’t easily ruin or destroy.

Beauty:

Self care and beauty products have taken off these past few years, especially in Park. Many want to try out different products from various companies, but totals add up pretty quickly in this area. The deals this year help immensely with price, making buying and gifting with these prices that much easier.

  1. Ulta Beauty – Up to 50% off store-wide, with free gifts given out with purchases

The winner for beauty is Ulta Beauty, as their deals spread across various brands and items, from makeup to nails to skincare. Ulta has something for everyone, so you can add many gifts to your cart and still not pay an exuberant amount. The additional free gifts with purchase is the cherry on top to this amazing deal.

      2. Charlotte Tilbury – Up to 40% off everything

If you have a future makeup artist in your life, gifting them Charlotte Tilbury products will make their holiday season. These high quality across the board products are long lasting, waterproof, and glowy for all individuals, and with the 40% off, gifting this season got so much easier.

      3. Dyson – Up to $200 off hair tools

Finally, with their incredible hair tools that are also incredibly expensive, Dyson makes the list for a beauty deal. The $200 off applied across their product list makes this deal enticing for those who may have been saving for an Airwrap or an Airstrait of their own.

Miscellaneous:

Some people just aren’t into technology, fashion or beauty, so this list is for those in your life who are a little difficult to pick a gift for. These deals apply to stores where you can find something for anybody, making gift shopping this season less stressful.

  1. Bath and Body Works – Buy three get three free for the entire store

Black Friday is always a hit at Bath and Body Works for their incredible deal. All products, scents and sizes apply, making this truly a “choose your own adventure” Black Friday shopping excursion. You can get a gift for 5 different people in your life and a little something for yourself that smells devine, making this deal number one.

      2. Barnes and Noble – Up to 50% off select items

This bookstore has so much more to offer than just books, like music, legos, and stationary. Up to 50% off these items can encourage a creative side in people this holiday season.

      3. DICK’S Sporting Goods – Up to 50% off select items

Finally, the store for all things sport has a pretty good deal for the expansiveness of its store. DICK’s has something for the athlete or adventurer in your life, which can usually be pretty expensive, but not with this deal. And with winter around the corner, saving almost 50% on a winter jacket is a really good idea.

This Black Friday, Nov. 24, Mall of America will be opening at 7:00am and Ridgedale Center will open at 9:00am, and some of these deals will be available inside for anyone to use.

Hey y’all!! My name is Abby, I’m a senior and this will be my third year on Echo (whoa!!). When I’m not designing an infographic on Canva hidden away in the Pub, you can find me drinking any sort of matcha (preferably matcha lemonade), devouring a nice bowl of Pho from Quang, or hanging out with Ruby Viot (my favorite person ever). You can usually catch me with my headphones on listening to Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Tyler Childers or Zach Bryan! #PeaceOut #CanvaQueen
