Seven students will accompany the orchestra with individual showcases at the upcoming orchestra event.

The Orchestra Concerto Concert takes place at 7 p.m. March 13 in the Auditorium.

Orchestra director Miriam Edgar said she is impressed with the eight auditions for solos in this concerto-style event. Seven students received spots in the program.

Junior Thanasi Pantazides who will be featured with the chamber orchestra said he is also excited for the opportunity to play “Viola Concerto in G Major.”

“It’s a lot of fun being able to play a difficult piece with the orchestra backing you up,” he said.

Edgar said the concert provides a valuable learning experience.

“Having the skills to accompany an orchestra is important,” she said. “It will help those advance students who may play solos in the future.”

Attending the event is free for anyone, however the orchestra will be accepting donations for its trip to London and Paris.
