Members of Orchestra and their parents voted for the trip scheduled for spring of 2016 and will tentatively be visiting New York, New York.

Orchestra teacher Miriam Edgar said students had the opportunity to pick where they would like to travel.

“Students had the option to pick between Chicago, San Francisco, Orlando and New York, New York,” Edgar said.

The students will participate in at least three performances and assist an orchestra master class.

As a fundraiser for the trip, a rock concert is scheduled in February to bring in donations and as an additional source of income orchestra students are selling Happenings books and cookie dough.

Senior Josie Goodman said she believes the trip will have an impact not only on the students, but on their musical abilities.

“It’s a great idea. It encourages more to be learned than what is taught in class,” Goodman said.

In addition to the students performing a guest band, “General Band the Wiz”, plans to perform as the main event of the night. The band creates a unique sound by mixing bluesy tones into their music.

The fundraiser is scheduled to be held at 7:00 p.m., February 12 in the senior high auditorium.
