From a new headquarters to brand new technology, the Robotics club is making several improvements for this upcoming school year.

Senior Captain of the Robotics club, Francis Thelen, said he is excited for the future prospects of the club.

“[Robotics] is moving rooms this year. We’re relocating to the woodshop so we don’t have to keep moving stuff from across the school” Thelen said.

In addition to a new room, the Robotics club has also invested in some new equipment.

”We are getting a CNC machine, which cuts out metal components. Instead of having to go buy parts, we can make our own,” Thelen said. “We’re also going to be utilizing the 3D printer so we can prototype components for the robots.”

The robotics club is already looking towards the future, according to Thelen. The 10,000 Lakes robotic competition, which the club will be attending, will occur early next year. The club doesn’t know what to anticipate, but Thelen said he believes they’ll be ready.

“The rules for what we have to build the robot to make have not been released yet. In January, there is a kick-off which is the release of the rulebook. After that, we get six weeks to build the robot and test it out.”

According to Thelen, the team is excited and prepared for the challenges ahead.
