The Echowan, Park’s yearbook, published its first edition in 1929. While many things have changed about the yearbook, the purpose is still the same, according to Echowan staffers.

Junior Echowan photographer Emma Bjorgaard said she thinks the yearbook provides memories for people to look back on years later.

“It helps you look back at your old friends and compare your life then and now,” Bjorgaard said.

According to sales manager Gabby Martinez, yearbooks are on sale until Jan. 20, but the prices go up after Nov. 19.

“It’s $65 right now, but the prices go up a bit towards the end of November,”Martinez said. “You can either buy them online at Balfour.com, on the high school website or you can come into the Echowan room, B229, during 5th hour.”

Martinez said checks can be made out to Balfour, but students can also bring in exact cash to the Echowan room. Echowan staff hope that students look back at the yearbook when they are older to be reminded of their high school experience.

“The yearbook helps to provide memories that you’ll care about in your older years and smile about them,” Bjorgaard said.

Staff adviser Julianne Herbert also said she believes yearbooks give students something to look back at.

“As our world becomes more and more digitized, we need something we can keep in our hands and show our kids and grandkids,” Herbert said.
