Partnering with colleges across the country, Park’s post-secondary prep program seeks to give students opportunities to meet with representatives from colleges that interest them.

Post-secondary coordinator Cheryl Broady, who organizes the college representatives’ visits, said fall is the busiest time for college representatives visiting schools.

“In the last two weeks, we’ve had representatives every hour,” Broady said. “We can get up to 30 a week in September and October.”

Broady said the school brings in representatives from dozens of colleges across the country, ranging from Minnesota two-year colleges to Ivy League universities.

Park’s goal with the program, according to Broady, is to encourage its students to attend college.

“We want graduates to go on to post-secondary options,” Broady said.

Broady said meetings with college representatives don’t replace an on-campus visit to a school, but students can learn a lot from the meetings.

Students benefit from the opportunity to meet with someone who will later affect their admission, according to Broady.

“(The visits) are important because students meet the person who accepts or rejects them from college,” Broady said.

Students interested in meeting with representatives can sign up in the counseling office. The counseling office regularly makes announcements regarding visiting colleges.
