As Park Tech adviser Jacob Utities looks back at his memories of playing video games from last year’s semi-annual event night, he smiles and looks forward to preparations for this year.

“Last year was awesome, we had a great time. We had Smash Brothers hooked up to the big screen and had people playing downstairs on Xbox and Playstation,” Utities said. “Mesa Pizza hooks us up—it’s pretty sweet.”

Park Tech hosts event night every year after school as a way to unite the existing members and encourage more students to join, according to Utities. He said he plans event night at the end of each semester after finals as a celebration.

It’s what we call a ‘new member night,’” Utities said. “So people can check out the club to see if they like it.”

Utities said even though Park Tech runs the event, the members welcome students and encourage them to come, free of charge.

“After the first event night, we got a lot more members so it is always exciting,” Utities said. “Compared to last year, we have already almost quadrupled, which is a crazy big deal.”

After hearing about the previous event nights in Park Tech, freshman Haley Morgan said she looks forward to inviting her peers.

“It sounds like a really cool event, and I hope it gets more people interested in joining,” Morgan said. “I’m really excited and I plan on bringing my friends that aren’t already involved with Park Tech.”

After participating in many Park Tech events, the club’s head technician, senior Nate Archambault, said he feels happy to to see all the previous members return.

“I’ve been to most of the Park Tech events, and they are always a lot of fun,” Archambault said. “We usually get a couple pizzas and bring in our gaming rigs as well as inviting back some of the older members that we keep in touch with.”
