After hosting multiple speakers, MED Club plans to visit numerous medical facilities, according to adviser Casie Budolfson.

According to Budolfson, Medical Educational Development (MED) Club will tour the University of Minnesota April 13, where the students plan to talk with a health care adviser.

Budolfson said the tour is an all day field trip and the club will tour the Masonic Cancer Research Center as well, and possibly the Masonic Children’s Hospital.

Senior club member Emily Hinz said she looks forward to the field trip because she hopes to learn more about different jobs in the medical and biological fields.

“I’m hoping to learn more about what goes on inside of a medical center and to see if I could possibly see myself in a similar career in the future,” Hinz said.

Budolfson said she hopes the field trip gives the students a better idea of their future in a medical field and what is needed to be successful in those respective fields.

“I think the number one purpose is to talk to the health care adviser so that they know what the different majors are at the University (of Minnesota) which could be options for students,” Budolfson said. “Also, to be able to talk to (health care professionals) to see what they need to do to be successful in that field of study, and then to just tour the campus to see if they haven’t seen it yet.”

Hinz said she believes MED Club, along with this field trip and the clubs past speakers, gives students a better idea of different pathways.

“(This field trip) is good because students get the chance to learn about careers they might not have known had even existed before. I think this will let the students go even farther into exploring these careers by seeing what happens on a day-to-day basis,” Hinz said.

According to Budolfson, the field trip is open to MED Club members only. The next meeting has not been set yet.
