What do you do in your position as a Deca officer?

All of the officers have pretty much the same position, to get information to other members, set up events, advocate for the club, and make it fun. Since our chapter is smaller than other chapters, we do not have individual positions such as president, vice president and treasurer.

How long have you been in Deca?

This will be my second year in Deca. I was thinking about joining during freshman year but I never ended up doing it.

Why did you decide to join Deca?

I joined Deca because I thought it would be a really great opportunity in order to expand my horizons and become more involved in learning about business and the real world. I also think it’s a great opportunity because a lot of things that you can apply with Deca you can apply with life as well.

What is your favorite aspect of Deca?

My favorite aspect of Deca is being able to learn things that you will use in your life and outside, because I think that a lot of things that we learn in school are not applicable to life, and I think Deca is.

Would you recommend Deca for other students? Why or why not?

I would recommend Deca for other students because, once again, you get to learn things that are applicable to life and really help you in the long run and people skills and being able to communicate in different situations and how to interview and how to do a handshake and it really is very interesting.

What is your goal for Deca this year?

My goal for Deca is to have more membership because I think that it’s a great opportunity and I also want our chapter to be more competitive this year.
