When members of Fellowship of Christian Athletes attended their first meeting Nov. 15, senior Hannah Ellingson said she enjoyed meeting new members and to start planning what they want to do as a group.

Fellowship Christian Athletes (FCA) adviser Megan Hansen said she decided to be one of the FCA advisers this year because it has a positive influence on her life and sports she previously participated in.

“The impact that FCA has personally had on my experience in athletics is why I became an adviser and knowing that even though I’m new to the St Louis Park school district that impact will be made on the relationships that we build,” Hansen said.

Hansen said she hopes the club will gain recognition and to continue to grow.

“Short term (goal) would be immediate impact on the school, culture and teams that these athletes are part of. Long term (goal) is to build a lasting legacy of the club in the school culture,” Hansen said.FCA

Ellingson said she wishes for more students to join and to impact sports students participate in.

“Long term goals include being able to reach out even more to the student body to either come to a meeting or event that we’re having,” Ellingson said. “Also that FCA is a place for athletes to be able to incorporate their faith into their sport.”

Hansen said she plans to host public events for Park to be apart of and to have bible study every week.

“I hope to host different school-wide events the idea would be nothing where you have to be part of the club or attending regular meetings it would just be something that we host. Maybe we will host a dodgeball tournament or we would host some type of bonfire sometime right after a game,” Hansen said. “(Also) the bible studies once a month, every other week and bi-weekly Tuesday morning small group and to continue to just impact those and their teams.”

Hansen said she encourages students the great environment and support the club provides for students.

“ It’s a positive place to be. You don’t have to be in a sport team If you own a pair of tennis shoes, you’re an athlete. If you can put a pair of tennis shoes on, and play kickball or tag or some type of game and just be encouraged by your peers then come be a part of FCA,” Hansen said.
