Last weekend Minnesota was hit by an unprecedented snow storm that left most cities with at least one foot or more of snow. This historic blizzard lasted from April 13-16.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm produced winds of 45-64 mph. In many cities, visibility was reduced to zero, so driving, flying and other means of transportation became hopeless. The storm was concentrated in the Upper Midwest region, affecting South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin the most.

According to Minnesota’s Department of Natural Resources, this April blizzard cumulated an average of 15.8 inches in the Twin Cities, breaking a previous April record held in the Twin Cities of 13.6 inches in 1983.
