Echo was named a 2018 Pacemaker finalist in the newspaper category by the National Scholastic Press Association Sept. 7.

According to the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA), the Echo was one of 67 publications recognized as finalists in the annual Pacemaker competition.

This competition only judged print news publications, according to NSPA. Echo also received a 2018 Pacemaker award from NSPA in the online competition in April.

The Pacemaker competition is NSPA’s most distinguished award competition and only 28 of the 67 finalists will recieve the Pacemaker award.
