As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in Minnesota, the Minneapolis Parks and Recreational Board announced all beaches, wading pools and other outdoor aquatic facilities will be closed this summer.

“The level of public congregation that takes place at aquatic facilities and the level of staff required to operate these facilities will make it impossible to open and manage these facilities safely this summer,” according to the Minneapolis Parks and Recreational Board website.

According to the website, some athletic fields and courts will open that allow for social distancing, including tennis courts and basketball hoops. Soccer and volleyball nets will not be placed, and fields will not be marked.
