Superintendent Astein Osei at school board meeting April 25. The school board is planning the budget for upcoming 2023-2024 school year.

After collaborating with the Minnesota School Boards Association, Park announced that they plan to move forward with the process of selecting an interim superintendent to complete the school year.

Following the abrupt resignation of former Superintendent Dr. Astein Osei, Park announced that Tami Reynolds, director of Student Services, would temporarily fill the position of interim

superintendent. On Sept. 22, Board Chair Anne Casey announced she has been in the process of interviewing potential interim superintendent candidates, and has recommended Dr. Kate Magiure for the position.

According to Casey, Maguire has past experience serving as both a superintendent and interim superintendent and has the ability to keep Park running smoothly.

“Dr. Maguire retired from Osseo Area Schools in 2018, and recently served as an interim superintendent for the Anoka-Hennepin Public School District,” Casey wrote. “I believe Dr. Maguire will fulfill our current needs by keeping our operations and initiatives running smoothly. If confirmed as the interim superintendent, Dr. Maguire will complete her term in June 2024.”

In the future, the school board will begin community engagement with students, families and staff on a process for a permanent superintendent

Dr. Maguire’s interview with the school board will be open for public viewing both in-person and digitally. Casey said that following the meeting, the school board will decide whether to move forward with the hiring process of Maguire.

“The school board will interview Dr. Maguire on Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. at a special school board meeting,” Casey wrote. “It will be open to the public and recorded for viewing on the district’s Youtube channel. After the interview, the school board will vote to enter contract negotiations with Dr. Maguire.”

Casey said the board hopes to include and engage community voices throughout the hiring process, which will include periodic updates as decisions are made.

“In the future, the school board will begin community engagement with students, families and staff on a process for a permanent superintendent,” Casey wrote. “We will keep you informed throughout the school year as more plans and decisions are made.”

To learn more about the potential hiring of Dr. Kate Maguire, attend the school board meeting at 8:00 p.m. Sept. 27.
