According to head coach Joe Yaeger, the meet against Richfield Sept. 27 went well overall with challenging practices to prepare them for upcoming meets.

“I thought the meet went very very well. The girls have had a hard last week, week and a half with the practices. They really came through and powered through it.” Yaeger said.

According to senior Claudia Stone, hard work during practices paid off in the win against Richfield.

“It went really well, we won. We’ve been training really hard right now and for us to do that well in this point of the season is good,” Stone said.

Yaeger said the team performed well against its competitors and the whole team contributed to the victory against Richfield.

“I think it was a combination of a full team effort. They didn’t rely on one girl to win the meet, it was a full team. It took every single girl out there to do it,” Yaeger said.

Senior Sarah Anderson said two goals moving on include decreasing times and working toward State.

“I think (some goals would be) to qualify relays and individuals for State at sections and just getting everyone faster and ready for sections,” Anderson said.

Stone said cheering from her teammates helped motivate and encourage her during the meet.

“You can definitely hear it, and obviously the race is still really hard but it’s really motivating to know that your team is there encouraging you,” Stone said.

According to Yaeger, team togetherness and commitment is a focus for the girls moving forward this season.

“Continuing this trend of coming together as a team, working hard, getting those payoffs, putting in the time in practice, not dropping time but maintaining it because the outcome will surely be worth it,” Yaeger said.

According to gopark.org, the next meet takes place at 6:00 p.m. Oct. 4 at Pioneer Ridge Middle School against Chanhassen.
