According to sophomore Greta Kulevsky, the positive approach from the girls’ swimming team helped them gain victory over Bloomington Kennedy.

“I think it went pretty good, we all had a good attitude going in so that really helped,” Kulevsky said.

Assistant coach Branch Johnson said the team cheered well and encouraged each other throughout the meet.

“There was a lot of team spirit today. Everyone was behind the lanes, there was nobody sitting on the bench, nobody standing on the side, it was all team spirit,” Johnson said.

Sophomore Maya Lee said to prepare for upcoming meets, the team works hard in practices and focuses on individual skills.

“We have been having really hard practices and we have been focusing on individual skills too like turns, finishes and starts,” Lee said.

Johnson said the meet went great against Bloomington Kennedy and approaching the end of the season the team is progressing well.

“The meet was amazing, we did really well. Everyone swam hard, there’s always things we need to work on,” Johnson said. “In terms of coming towards the end of the season we have been shaping up really well.”

Kulevsky said one thing the team did well was breathing on turns, which the coaches have been working on with the swimmers.

“Our coaches have really been on us about not breathing out of our turns so I think we did pretty good on that,” Kulevsky said.

According to gopark.org, the next meet takes place at 6 p.m. Oct. 23 at St. Louis Park High School against Benilde St. Margaret’s.
