While competing against one of the best offensive teams in the state, coach Brian Kelly said one strength of the game was Park’s pitching.

“We did a really good job at our two strike approach,” Kelly said. “Our offensive approach was really good today, we hit the ball really hard today just at the guys.”

Throughout the game, senior Drew Boyum said he was proud of how the team persevered even though they were losing and struggling to hit the ball.

“Our fight to the end went well. None of us gave in,” Boyum said. “We knew it was going to be a tough opponent but none of us gave up.”

Despite the loss, senior Ethan Schmitz said he is happy with how the team played defensively.

“We were able to shut them down defensively and limit their big hits early in the game,” Schmitz said.

With an 11-8 record, Kelly said the team is improving with every game and is having fun while doing it.

“Even on days like today where we lose a game, we played a really good baseball game. We made mistakes that we can build on but we hung with a really good team and so we are just trying to take positives out of each game,” Kelly said.

Schmitz said Park has a strong team this year that is excited to continue playing for the rest of the season.

“Our season overall is going well overall, with a five-game win streak we had, it really helped boost us and gives us confidence for later in the season,” Schmitz said.
