Reflecting on the last game of the season and another 1-0 loss, junior captain Sophia Romero said although she was disappointed with the outcome, she thought the team played cohesively.

“This is one of the only games this season where I truly felt like we were unified as a team going in, and we couldn’t have come out any stronger than we did,” Romero said.

According to senior Jamie Enright, the team created moments where it could take advantage of the ball with assurance and not aimlessness.

“We played really calm and confident, and we were making opportunities as a team, not just playing long balls and one person attacking,” said Enright.

Head Coach Benji Kent said he prepared the team both physically and mentally for the demands of a section game.

“We worked a bit on defending. We did some work in the attacking part of the field,” said Kent. “We mentally tried to get the kids to a place where they could handle the pressure.”

Looking back on the season as a whole, Romero said, while the team had its defeats, it maintained its strength and persistence.

“We lost a lot of games this year, and although that did bring our spirits down I don’t think it led us to the ground completely,” Romero said. “We continue to try and pick up, and these last few games we really demonstrated the fact that we can persevere.”

Reminiscing on her time playing for Park, Enright said she will miss the team, but looks ahead to her future.

“It’s kind of sad, but it’s also it’s the end of an era and it’s time to move on and go to college and do better things,” said Enright.

Kent said regardless of the team’s record, he has seen the progress the team has made and is happy about its growth.

“I’m just really proud of the girls, and I really hope they realize how much they’ve grown and continue to want to put in the work because there’s a lot of good players in the program,” said Kent.
