NFL is off to the races

National Football League is well underway, better than ever

The National Football League (NFL) is onto its 103rd season and has started with a bang. Tons of exciting games took place with surprises that nobody saw coming. The long, seven month off-season has come to an end with the regular season upon us already playing dozens of games and a ton of news.

There have already been some surprising developments this season. The New York Jets had sky high expectations adding the four time MVP Aaron Rodgers to their roster. However, just four plays into the new season Rodgers took a nasty hit and tore his achilles effectively ending his season. The Jets have announced they will stick with Zach Wilson who started only nine games last season after being benched multiple times for poor performance. The Jets had a tough loss to the Cowboys in week two primarily due to Zach Wilson.

The Minnesota Vikings have started out 0-2 coming off of a 13-4 season last year. The Bengals who made the conference championship game last year are also 0-2 with many questioning if this team has dropped off dramatically from last year’s successes.

So far we have seen some dominant teams that are early favorites for deep postseason runs. The Cowboys have had two dominant wins against decent teams with a 40-0 shellacking against the Giants and beat the Jets 30-10. The Miami Dolphins have also started hot, sitting at 2-0 with two wins against strong conference opponents.

One other surprise this season is the Rams rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua. Nobody had heard of this guy before the season and after week two he is currently leading the NFL, being thrown the ball 35 times. The next closest has 25. Nacua also has earned 25 receptions — the next closest has earned 20. Another head turning player is the Falcons rookie running back Bijan Robinson who was the number eight overall pick in this past year’s draft has hit the ground running as he already has 180 rushing yards, ten receptions and 75 receiving yards.

Although the season is just beginning, it is as exciting as ever and should have many more eye-opening revelations. Will the Chiefs repeat as champions? Will the Bengals have a disappointing season? Will Puka Nacua be the best receiver in the league? Time will tell.
