Players and staff members grabbed their rackets and hit the courts to participate in the girls’ tennis fundraiser.

According to junior captain Natalie Lorentz, the team hosted a doubles tennis tournament to raise money for the school.

“I participated in the tournament with my dad,” Lorentz said. “We participated for fun mostly and because we think it’s a good cause.”

Coach Christine Tvrdik said she partnered with coach David Breitenbucher for the event.Girls tennis

“This used to be the annual fundraiser that was held a few years back with different coaches,” Tvrdik said. “Once Breitenbucher came back, we decided to give it a try.”

According to Tvrdik, the weather provided for a great day of fundraising and an awesome turn out.

“Almost every girl on the team brought a partner to play with and there were even some staff members that participated,” Tvrdik said. “Overall, the tournament  was a lot of fun for everyone.”

Tvrdik said the team plans to host a similar event next year, considering the number of people who participated.

“We will for sure do it again next year, although we will probably make it more elaborate and add a consolation bracket for more playing time for everyone,” Tvrdik

According to head coach David Breitenbucher, they made about $450 and are in the process of deciding where they are going to donate it.

“The thought was to donate the money to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s,” said Breitenbucher. “But as we got closer to the fundraiser, I thought maybe we better keep it in the community.”

Breitenbucher said he will donate the money where the team chooses.

“I’m going to sit down with the girls and we’ll decide where to make the donation,” said Breitenbucher.
