According to junior Hattie Kugler, Park performed well at State, and she was proud of the team’s success.

I think overall everyone did the best that they could and everyone came together as a team and it was really good,” Kugler said.

Senior captain Claudia Stone said some individuals and relays made the finals which is new for the team.

“We made finals in our medley relay and also had two individuals make finals which is something we have never done before,” Stone said.

Coach Amanda Forsberg said there were a lot more Park girls at State this year, compared to last year, which was very beneficial to the team.

Last year, we didn’t have as many people, so it was kind of nice, we scored higher, scored more points and we had someone in the top eight,” Forsberg said.

According to Forsberg, Kugler placed seventh at State in the 100-yard Breaststroke which was the highest on the team and received All-State, an honor not seen for girls’ swimming at Park in a while.

“Hattie finished in the top eight which we haven’t had in a while,” Forsberg said.

Hattie said a lot of preparation and support from her teammates helped her at State.

“(What helped was) lots of practicing, visualization and just getting hype with the team,” Kugler said.

According to Forsberg, Park placed 23rd overall at state for girls’ swimming to end their season.
