With the cancellation of the first two games due to weather, the boys’ baseball team is ready to finally compete against other schools according to coach Danny Bissonette.

Bissonette said the team will be ready to play due to many off season practices and lifting sessions.

“These guys have been working pretty hard during the off season, they are in the weight room all through off season with coach Gust if they’re not playing another sport,” Bissonette said.  “Tryouts isn’t the first time they’ve been playing baseball, they’ve been working hard for the past 4 months.”

Bissonette said competing in a new conference this year will be demanding but rewarding because the players will gain more skills as the season goes on.

“We know a little bit about Cooper and Benilde since they were in our conference before but other than that we don’t know much about the teams other than what we see in the paper,” Bissonette said. “I think every game in this conference will be a challenge but we’ve got a ton of seniors that will be up for the challenge and were ready for this year.”

Junior Graham Anderson said the game against Chaska will be difficult but the team will be able to handle the pressure.

“I believe it’s gonna be a tough game because they are a good competitor but our team this year has a lot of seniors and so we should be a well rounded team,” Anderson said.

The game will be at 7 p.m. April 16 at Chaska.
